This Is All Dad’s Fault
by Theo - Boy Meows - Comments (2) - January 14th, 2010

Dad took these embarrassing pictures of me and Mom just HAS to show EFFURRYONE cuz she says they’re cute! Hmph.

theobuttsFirst we have this shot of me looking out the window. Dad says I was looking at something really excitin’ and whatever it was had me quivering. I’m so long in the body that it’s more comfortable for me to flop over the edge of the chair like this than to try to gather my legs up under me.

theobuttscloseThen, Dad got closer, cuz these humans have a weird fascination with catbutts. Dunno why. Geez Dad.

theo-windowcloseBut it’s not all bad. Dad got this handsome pic of me posing for the camera. Yeah, aren’t I good-looking?

Admire The Theo

theo-desksitterThis is me, giving Mama a dirty look because she hasn’t updated our blog in FURREVER!!! BAD MAMA!! Shes giving us this excuse about taking some class and being really busy but we aren’t buying it. We demand our computer time!

Anyway. It’s getting chilly here in Oregon, which means more snugglepiles indoors. This isn’t so bad. We don’t like the rain, so we spend more time inside. Mama just LOVES it when I wake her up at 5 am asking for more pets! MOL.

Tigsy is happy because Mama’s sisfur likes kittehs a lot, so she gets lots of extra lap time when Dad isn’t around. This extra lap thing is coming really in handy for Tigs! Also, Auntie lets Tigsy sleep on her bed while she does her homework. Since it’s nice and soft and squishy with blankets, Tigerlils is a happy kitteh girl! *purr*

theobeggingHere I am asking politely to share in something Dad is preparing in the kitchen. Unbeknownst to me, he was just washing some chanterelle mushrooms, but I thought he was making something really good! I was insisting that he at least let me check it out! Aren’t my spots excellent?

Such Terrible Treatment!

theowindowshotLast week Mom got on a big flying thing and went to New York City. Can you believe Mom went and LEFT us for four whole days?? Sure, we had Dad and Mom’s sister to keep us company, but still. We haven’t forgiven Mama for taking off.

In happier news, Mom’s sister has moved in with us! She is going to Portland State University, so she is going to live here for a few years while she goes to school. We are so happy about this! We will call her Auntie. Auntie loves cats, so we have been getting pets and snugs, and she let Tigsy sleep on her bed! Yeah!

tigsysnuggledIt’s starting to look a little bit like fall here, with the nights getting a little cooler. Soon, it’ll be cold all the time and we’ll have lots of snuggling up with the humans to do. Tigsy enjoyed a little snuggling up in some coats while the humans were emptying out the closet in Auntie’s room before she moved in. Tigsy was kind of annoyed when they made her move out of the coats so they could hang them. Hmph! she said.

Well, we look forward to lots of snuggling this winter, with an extra lap in the house.

Purrfect Summertime
by Theo - Boy Meows - Comments (2) - August 20th, 2009

It’s been warm again in Oregon, but not TOOOOO warm this time. I been enjoying doing some of my favorite things! That would be snoozing, snoozing, and watching birds and squirrels.

theo-bedsnoozeDad snapped this pic of me snoozing on the bed. It’s probably my favorite place to sleep because I can stretch out my long legs and tail and really get comfy. Given a choice, I’ll sleep here for several hours a day.

boostwindowThis chair is in the living room, and the window looks out onto the street. When I’m not running around outside, I like to flop on the chair like this and watch stuff out the window. Birds, squirrels, other cats, people… they all go by and I’ll sit and watch them for a long time before I get bored.

I really love summer. The other day, Mom’s mom, sister, brother and brother’s girlfriend all came up to visit. They sat outside to eat dinner and I got to cadge bits of beef and flop out on the lawn to keep an eye on them. It was the best! What’s your favorite part about summer?

Happy Again

theo-81109I has decided to forgive Mom for stuffing me in a box and taking me to THAT PLACE. It started raining a lot here in Portland, so I been spending more time inside because I do not like being all wet. That means naps and pets and purrrs. Yeah. Mom snapped this picture of me snoozing on the bed in the middle of the day and I reached out my paw towards her. Yeah, I train her right with the cuteness, she got all gushy and I got some nice pets after she took the picture.

tigsyembarrassingTigsy has been really mad though. She has to have drops put in her ears twice a day for THREE WEEKS! It’s for the ear infections, and Mom and Dad want her ears to get better. Tigsy hates it though, she is very cranky kitty after they do the drops. Don’t tell her that Mom took this embarrassing picture of her, she looks kind of funny here! MOL! I do love teasing my Sisfur Tigs.

A Trip To The V.E.T.
by Theo - Boy Meows - Comments (1) - August 9th, 2009

Oh my kitty furriends, a terrible thing happened on Friday. First, Mom locked the cat door so we couldn’t go outside. Then, she brought the cat carriers upstairs from the basement. Uh oh!

Horrors! First, she wrestled Tigsy into one carrier and then she pushed me into the other one! We yowled and growled and let her know this was UNACCEPTABLE but she didn’t let us out. No, she took us outside and put us in THE CAR! Our pathetic cries did not dissuade her from wherever we were going.

The next part wasn’t too bad. Once we got to da place, she took us into a room and let us out of the carriers. We wandered around the room and sniffed lots of other animals. But then, a strange man came and Mom held me while he stuck something ummmmm someplace unmentionable!! I was so upset I bit Mom, once on each hand. I got my revenge, cuz now Mom has to take pills, something ’bout her hand being ‘fected.

Anyway, then another strange man came called the V E T and the two men held me while one of them stuck me with sharp needles and tried to look in my ears. I was hissy and growly and very very mad.

When it was Tigsy’s turn, she just went limp, the traitor. She didn’t fight or bite or scratch at all, not even when they poked her with needles and put long sticks in her ears. Mom says she has an ear ‘fection so now she and Dad are putting drops in her ears all the time. Tigsy’s kind of mad about that, but she still lets them. How will they learn they can’t treat us this way if she doesn’t fight?

tigsyaftervetAfter the V E T, Tigsy was very tired and insisted, Princess-like, that she be allowed to sleep ON A PILLOW on Dad’s lap and he let her. MOL!

Anyway, I refused to talk to Mom for the rest of the day and all day Saturday. I even hissed at her when she tried to pet me at one point. But then last night I decided I’d rather sleep on the bed so I did and I made Mom pet me too. The awful memory is fading…

Hot Hot Hot!
by Theo - Boy Meows - Comments (2) - July 30th, 2009

It’s been really hot in Portland the last few days, reaching well over 100 degrees F on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We do not like it, no we don’t! We have mostly been napping, so Mom has only really been able to get pictures of us napping.

tigsy_july30 Here we have Tigerlily snoozing in the back part of the house. She slept here for most of the day, until she moved later to find a chair to sleep on.
theo_july30 I found a place to snooze in the kitchen, on the built-in bench. It’s part of a little nook and is quite cool, most of the time. Later, I found Mom & Dad’s bed, and slept all stretched out like a sausage.

It is supposed to gradually get cooler. We hope so, since we do not like the hot weather. Dad has been leaving the little air conditioner on during the day, even while he & Mom are gone, so at least the house hasn’t gotten into the triple digits. We will be glad when this heat spell is over!

The Story of Theo Part 2
by Tigsy - Girl Meows - Comments (1) - July 28th, 2009

theototalsnoozeIn Part 1 I told you about Muffin and how she went to her furrever home with Mom’s mom. After that, Theo came to live with us.

Mom & Dad got in the car and drove a long, long way, all the way up to Coeur d’Alene Idaho, where they met the Bengal breeder lady who had Theo. Theo was little, and cute, and a total bundle of spotted energy. Mom & Dad  somehow managed to get him into a kitty carrier, took him out to the car, and off they went! But they were hardly down the block before Theo started YOWLING! AND YOWLING! He DIDN’T WANT TO BE IN HIS CARRIER! YOWL!

Once they were on the freeways, they decided that they could let Theo out if he would stay mostly in the backseat or in Mom’s lap. He decided that the spot down by Mom’s feet where the cool air was blowing was a good spot, and took a nap.

Now here’s the funny part. Mom & Dad stopped for lunch at a sandwich place and Mom got turkey. At the first sniff of that turkey, Theo came alive and decided HE MUST HAVE TURKEY NOW PLEASE.  He turned into a growling little beast-monster, trying to walk down her outstretched arm to OM NOM NOM on her sandwich! It was so funny, he almost got the sandwich because Mom was laughing so hard! He was so little, but had this great big GROWL! He still growls when he has something good to eat.

Once they got home, we were properly introduced and I’ve tolerated the beast ever since… Next is MY story!!

Floofs & Paws & Noses
by Theo - Boy Meows - Comments Off - July 25th, 2009

Oh Hai!! Theo here. It’s been warm again here in Portland, warmer then we really like for fun in da sun outdoors. So we did a lot of sleeping today while Mom went to work and Dad read a book and did other Dadly things on his day off.

ct-tigsyfootfaceMom did manage to snap this piccie of Tigsy taking a nap on our favorite perch/tree-thingy by a window. Mom thought it was cute the way Tigsy’s nose was sticking down and her paws are all soft and paw-like. Mom loves kitty paws.
ct-theostretchyHere I am, all stretched out and ready for some snoozin’! Check out my tummy floofs! I iz all spotty on my tummy, cuz I’m a Bengal! Tigerlily likes to sleep all in a little bundle, but I like to stretch out and sleep like a sausage roll. Mom & Dad think this difference is funny cuz Tigsy is a Bengal too. When they catch me in a ball they also take my pic, just like they take a pic of Tigsy if she’s stretched out. Humans sure are funny!!

This is one of my favorite places to sleep, on our newish rug by my favorite chair. All the specks and stuff on the rug? That’s stuff we tracked in on our paws, Mom says Thanks Kitties!!! NOT!!! Now she has to vacuum.

Mom says it’s supposed to stay hot all weekend, yuck. We hope it cools off a little soon! Is it hot where you live?

The Story of Theo Part 1
by Tigsy - Girl Meows - Comments Off - July 22nd, 2009

In order to really understand the story of Theo, one must first hear about the story of Muffin, which really beings with the story of Tigerlily. But, I’m going to begin in media res with the story of Muffin, leading to Theo.

muffinaMuffin is a beautiful calico cat. Muffin came to live with Mom and Dad when she turned up on Mom’s Auntie’s porch one day and wouldn’t leave. Mom went to visit her Auntie and ended up bringing Muffin home. For a few years, this worked okay. I used to beat Muffin up but mostly we got along okay. Then Mom and Dad moved into a studio apartment, which wasn’t all THAT small but was really too small for two girl cats to get along. Muffin developed a bad peeing habit, and Mom asked her Mom if Muffin could come live at her house. Grandmommy said yes, and Muffin went to live with her. Now, Muffin is her cat and lives a very happy, spoiled life where she has a large house to run around. There are other cats, but also a lot more room and everyone mostly gets along. Muffin likes being Grandmommy’s cat.

But see, the problem for Mom is that Muffin was really HER cat. I am a Daddy’s Girl. I love to sit in his lap, purr for him, sleep on his feet or his back. I pretty much act like Mom is chopped liver most of the time.  (Of course, I do give up the snugs and purrs for Mom plenty, just to keep the snacks flowing.) But Muffin loved her mama, and Mom wouldn’t agree to take Muffin to a new furrever home unless she was replaced with another cat. Preferably a boy cat, cuz they figured (correctly) that I’d get along better with a boy.

So Dad started looking around for a Bengal breeder, cuz they decided they wanted another Bengal like me. They found a breeder that had a silver boy kitten who would be available soon, and so it was agreed that Theo would come live with us shortly after Muffin went to her new home. More to come in Part 2…
